SUMMARY:African National Eucharistic Congress 2023 (Washington\, D.C.)
DESCRIPTION:Dr. DelMonico will facilitate and be part of a panel with African Catholic diocesan leaders on the topic of “Advancing Outreach to African Catholics in the United States on Leadership Recruitment and Development at the Parish/ Diocesan Level.” The workshop is part of the African National Eucharistic Congress (ANEC) for 2023\, which will take place in the nation’s capital. The ANEC is an approximately every five year gathering which brings together African Catholics from across the United States to celebrate the visible\, living presence of Jesus in the Eucharist\, to share their faith and their rich heritage.  \nThe U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Cultural Diversity in the Church is the primary sponsor of the event\, in collaboration with the National Association of African Catholics in the United States (NAACUS) and the African Conference of Catholic Clergy and Religious in the United States (ACCCRUS). \nThe theme of the upcoming ANEC is “A Response To The Lord’s Prayer\, “That They May All Be One.” Dr. DelMonico is presenting with African Catholic diocesan leaders from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and San Bernardino due to his work supporting lay ministry formation and certification standards with the USCCB Subcommittee on Certification for Ecclesial Ministry and Service. He was invited to do so by Bishop Eusebio Elizondo\, M.Sp.S\, Auxiliary Bishop of Seattle\, and Chairman of the USCCB Subcommittee on Pastoral Care of Migrants\, Refugees\, and Travelers\, which is part of the Committee on Cultural Diversity in the Church.
