Thank you!

“One never reaches home, but wherever friendly paths intersect the whole world looks like home for a time.” – Hermann Hesse

Home is where you feel welcomed and loved. In a year that has shown us how important having a home – not only a shelter but supportive family and friends. Thank you to everyone who was able to join me for my virtual housewarming and home blessing! I am so grateful we were able to celebrate the blessings of home with each other. Please find below a recording of the experience and the slideshow of the gutting, pre-sale and recent photos of my home.

Foundations of Memory, Stairways of Dreams

“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” – Proverbs 24

On November 30, 2020, I closed on the purchase of my first home! It is located in the historic Pigtown / Washington Village neighborhood of downtown Baltimore, a five-minute walk to Oriole Park at Camden Yards & the Ravens’ M&T Bank Stadium. This 19th century home, which may date back to the Civil War, likely housed German immigrant butchers and others who worked to provide meat to the city. It was completely renovated in 2020, including the addition of a brand new third floor and small backyard patio. The roof deck will be added over the winter and provide a panoramic view of the city skyline and stadiums.

The sale of my mom’s house in Utica in July of last year (the red & gray painted house below) made it possible for me to purchase this wonderful home. I have been very conscious of her guiding presence with me through the process. In her spirit of hospitality,

My mom, Elaine DelMonico (+2019)

The New Neighborhood

In humility, I acknowledge that the home in which I reside rests on the traditional, ancestral and unceded land of the Piscataway Native American community.

Gifts & Registry

“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” – William Morris

I recognize, especially this year, that a gift may not be possible nor do I expect it. For those of you who may consider gifts: as you may imagine, the costs of setting up a new place and doing some initial investments to the home are significant. I have set up a gift registry through Target that includes small, medium and large wishlist items. If you would rather wish to make a gift of money to support me in these initial investment costs, you can send it via PayPal.

The most significant gift you can give is your prayers & good wishes as I begin this exciting time in my new home!
