Chicago Ministry Formation Competencies
This fall, after a year of collaborative consulting led by Dr. Marc DelMonico, the USCCB approved revised ministry preparation standards for the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Catholic Prison Ministries Competencies
On September 15, 2021 the USCCB Subcommittee on Certification for Ecclesial Ministry and Service approved competencies for minister formation and certification for Catholic pastoral care in prison ministries and for Certified Catholic Correctional Chaplains. In my role as Director of Certification for Ecclesial Ministry at the USCCB, it has been a privilege to work with colleagues in the Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition (CPMC) and the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) as they in turn have worked with the USCCB subcommittee to develop these innovative and comprehensive competencies, which will help prepare Catholics across the country for the vital work of providing spiritual care for those who are incarcerated or affected by incarceration in any way, including those in immigrant detention.

Remembering My Mom: Elaine A. DelMonico
On the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, October 4, 2019, with him and St. Jude the Apostle to guide her, my mom, Elaine Ann DelMonico, was embraced by the loving arms of God and ushered into her heavenly home, surrounded and supported by her loving family. I want to share the liturgical resources here which enabled our family to deal with our grief and affirm our hope in God’s mercy and Christ’s resurrection, in which my mom now fully shares.
